Karbon

Practice Management UK Available ★★★★☆ 4.4/5

Our Review

Karbon has quickly become the gold standard for practice management in forward-thinking accounting firms, and its AI capabilities are a big reason why. Unlike generic project management tools (Asana, Monday.com), Karbon is built from the ground up for accounting workflows.

The AI email triage feature is the headline act. It analyses incoming emails, identifies which client they relate to, categorises the intent (document submission, query, deadline-related, etc.), and can automatically create tasks or assign them to the right team member. For practices drowning in email, this alone can reclaim hours of daily admin.

Workflow templates are another strength. You can create standardised processes for tax returns, year-end accounts, VAT returns, and any other recurring work. Each template includes tasks, deadlines, dependencies, and automations — meaning nothing falls through the cracks during busy periods.

The client timeline view is particularly useful, giving you a complete history of every interaction, document, and task related to each client. When a client calls asking about something, any team member can get up to speed in seconds.

The main barrier is cost. At $59-79 per user per month (in USD, unfortunately), it's a significant investment for smaller practices. However, firms that commit to full adoption consistently report that it pays for itself through reduced admin time and fewer dropped balls. If you're serious about scaling your practice efficiently, Karbon is hard to beat.
